Finding a great photographer

Hi! Thanks for joining! Right now you might be looking at my website trying to find the perfect photographer for your special moment. Here are a few tips to help you find the perfect fit for you.

1: Decide the style that moves you

Before you begin researching your photographer, you'll need to decide what type of style you prefer. This will help determine what kind of photographer you'll have shooting your session/event. Do you like

Documentary: Candid spontaneous pictures. You'll rarely be looking at the camera and instead at the people in front of the camera with you.

Portraiture: If you like classic posed portraits, go with a traditional photographer who specialized in posed images and knows the best ways to form groups and make each picture flattering for everyone.

Fine Art: Dramatic photographs that give the artist more license to do what they think and feel during your session.

2: Do Your Homework

Start by reading reviews from recent clients, browse through photographers portfolios, check out their websites and blogs, look at other sessions they have shot that are the same session you will be booking and get a feel for their style. The design and style of their website and social media should give some insight into the photographers personality and style. Check out the client comments on social media and how the photographer responds to them.

3: Contact a Few Photographers

Once you have narrowed down your list to a select few, get in touch with them. Talk to them, get a feel for how they respond, their customer service abilities, and their availability. Set up a time to meet with them in person to get an even better sense of who they are not only as a person but as a business owner, and see if your personalities mesh.

4: Making Sure Your Personalities Work Together

This is SO important! Liking and bonding with your photographer makes all the difference! Do you share the same image for your session, do they present ideas in clear understandable ways, are they excited to be there for you, and do they have the personality you like to be around? Believe it or not this can be the entire difference between a good session, and an AMAZING ONE!

5: Ask About Your Rights

Most photographers have a contract, if they don't you may consider asking them for one for your session, or moving on to another photographer. Contracts are so important and protect you as a client. Find out if you can share images, if they will be using the images, if you have printing rights, and so forth.

6: Get Post Session Details

How long will it take to get your images back? How many images do you get from the session? Do you get a sneak peek? Will all the images be edited? Will the images be high resolution for printing purposes? Can I order prints from you? etc.
